Part 1 Orientation Activities of ICCS
On September 9, all the newly enrolled international students of International College of Chinese Studies gathered in the beautiful campus of Fujian Normal University to open a new chapter in their lives. University leaders, college deans and responsible teachers of relevant units came to check the enrollment situation of international students. College deans went deep into the students’ dormitory, sending sincere concern to warm them.
On September 10, international students attended the opening ceremony of 2023 of the college which was held at Hongda Hall. On behalf of all the teachers of the college, college dean and Professor Zhu Feng, expressed his sincere congratulations and warm welcome to the new students, and expressed his hope thatstudents should always uphold the school motto and study hard to lay a good foundation for the future life road.
Part 2 Integrity Education for International Graduate Students
On September 13, the international graduate students participated in the Orientation education for newly enrolled students and learned the policy regarding school enrollment situation, postgraduate education overview, postgraduate training process, degree application and award. Finally, international students solemnly took the oath of academic integrity.
Part 3 Mental Health Education—Ice-Breaking Activities
On September 10, all the international graduate students took part in a mental health education activity themed Ice-breaking Activities. The purpose of this activity is to cultivate good character quality, enhance psychological adaptability and maintain good mental health.
Part 4 National Conditions Education for International Students
Exploring the Source of Marine Civilization · Inheriting the South Island Sea Breeze Road was successfully held from September 26 to 28. International students participated in the comprehensive and three-dimensional marine culture comunication. The camp activities have positive significance for the comprehensive development of students and the international cultural exchange.
Part 5 Overview of Featured Lecture Activities
On October 8, the college invited Professor Zhou Xiaobing who is the vice president of Guangdong Chinese Language Association and the professor of Beijing Language and Culture University, to give a lecture on the theme of Problem-Oriented Research Topics to all the Chinese and international students major in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL). The core content of this lecture is how to choose a thesis topic. Professor Zhou shared from four aspects: problem orientation and collaborative innovation, source of topic selection, principle of topic selection and focus and concentration.
On October 9, Professor Zhou Xiaobing gave a lecture with the theme of Research Design based on Collaborative Innovation to share the international Chinese education research literacy and capacity building. This lecture is a training and guidance to comprehensively improve the international Chinese education and education management capacity building of the college. It is of great benefit to teachers and students to broaden their research horizons and improve their ability of research design, paper selection and writing quality.
Part 6 Filipino Students Visiting Soledad Memorial Hall
On October 11,23 Master students major in TCSOL jointly cultivated by the Philippine Ministry of Education and FJNU visited the Soledad Memorial Hall to learn more about the remarkable life of Ms. Soledad Roa Duterte. This visit not only carries forward the spirit of Ms. Soledad, but also promotes the close cooperation between China and the Philippines in the field of education, creating beneficial educational opportunities for more students.
A series of orientation education activities for international students, including warm welcome activities, rigorous academic lectures, and rich and colorful cultural experiences, have helped them to adapt to the learning life at the university. Students have expressed great expectations for the future and believe that they can achieve success in this ancient and vibrant university.
